Notice: Back issues are still available from previous tips of the week. You can take a look at them in the Tips of the Week Index. Also, I know I've been behind on Tips of the Week for a while, and I'm sorry. I'm going to get back on track starting now.

Max Money/No Roads

Andrew asks...
Can you build a city without roads?

Actually, yes, you can. The simulation only requires that a transportation method to be within 3 tiles of a zone to start building, and that includes rails and subway stations. I've seen quite a few self-dependent cities built entirely without roads, or with very few roads.

Be aware that building your transport system out of rails and/or subways would be more costly and cumbersome than roads were. But if you want the challenge, or want to try it out feel free.

I hope this helps!

Nick asks...
What is the largest amount of money you can have?

Thanks to Jerry Moore for this information
Due to the construction of the SC2000 file system, the maximum amount of money you can have in your funds is $2,147,483,647 (over 2 billion). When you start to go over this amount, the simulation begins reporting it as a negative number.

I hope this helps!
