Seaports and Airports:
Seaports and airports are useful to cities at 20,000 people and above. They allow everything from cargo crates to business men with laptops to enter/leave your city quickly and easily. These effect both industry and commercial.

Seaports effect industry because it allows goods produced in your city to be sent to other cities around who-knows-where. This not only encourages more industry to come, but improves the commerce for selling those goods. Which takes us to airports.

Airports improve your commerce by allowing some goods to be taken around, but it mostly takes people around, including tourists and business guys. And of course tourism totally sets the commerce off (to refresh your memory, go to a tourist trap like Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, TN - you'll see what I mean :-). The business guys will be allowed to do business quicker than by driving a dumb car all the way to your city.

Overall, airports and seaports are a very GOOD thing to have. "New York City would not be New York City without an airport."

And overall, be creative.
