Railroads

Railroads are a small part of the transportation in SimCity 2000, used mainly for industry to move goods among cities. It isn't completely neccesary, but if you have the cash it may be a good addition after roads and highways. This section should offer you tips on placing railroads.

First of all, since railways are meant to move goods among cities, not within them, you should always build at least one connection to another city when you're building railroads. Usually 1 or 2 stations should be enough, if you have an airport, seaport, or very dense industrial area I suggest putting the station around there.

It's known that rails are very difficult to build, and if you mess up you can be wasting yourself a lot of money. Plan before you build so you know exactly where you can put your rails and where not to. Avoid building rail bridges whenever possible, they screw everything up.

Overall, remember to provide decent connections between cities, good placement of stations, and plan before you build.

I hope this helps!
