Land AllocationJonny asks... What is a good ratio for Residential to Commercial, Industrial to Commercial, Industrial to Residential, Seaports to population, and Airports to population? This is a question where you will get a variety of different answers. Every mayor has relatively different ideas on how to divide up your city's zones. In the beginning of your city, Residential & Industrial should be your only real concern, you should hardly worry about Commercial. Residential and Industrial zones should be pretty much the same at all times. When your city hits 10,000 people or so, you can begin to concentrate more on Commercial zones. When it comes to port/population ratios, I prefer just to build a small one unless my city is very, very huge. As long as an aiport has a runway and a seaport has a pier, it should do fine - the sim only checks to be sure it's there. As I continue to hype, the Demand Bar should be your final decision on what to build. If a zone is above the bar, it should be built; if it's below the bar, you have too much of it already. I hope this helps! by Robert Graessle (rgraessl@choice.net)
