This Week's Tips of the Week
The Magic Eraser:
One of the most known and worst kept secrets of SimCity 2000 is the
ability to erase buildings but still keep their population. I've heard
it was an original feature of SimCity Classic. Well anyway, it's the
magic eraser, and it allows you to erase buildings and build over them,
while keeping the population of the past building. Here's how:
- Make a backup copy of your city in case you mess up.
- Click on "Trees" in the submenu under the "Tree/Water" Icon.
- Hold down the shift key and the left mouse button.
- Slowly drag the mouse arrow over the area you wish to erase. You should
see the buildings slowly disappear.
- Be sure to rotate and zoom in and out to make sure you aren't erasing
your statue or city hall or anything you don't want to erase (ahhhhhhh!!!!! :-).
- Build over your newly acclaimed territory.
The Magic Eraser has been used as a prime tool for building large cities.
For example, Jerry Moore,
the former record holder for the world's largest SimCity, was able to build
it with only a few arcos thanks to this tool.
And overall, be creative.
