SimCopter MissionsThis page will tell you about another important part of SimCopter, the missions. Missions are the only way you can get points (which we all like to do). Missions can range from catching a speeder to rescuing a shipload of Sims. Here I've listed all the major types of missions (in other words, the ones I could get a screenshot of). There are some variations, like for the rescue, I could just as well perform a rescue from a rooftop, and for the criminal the guy could have been in the car. However, these types happen more often. Let's get ready to rumble!
Fire Fires can range in size and intensity from an entire city block to a tiny spot in the wilderness. They are sometimes the by-product of criminals and riots. You can put them out by dispacthing fire trucks to the area (wimp!), or putting it out yourself with your water bucket and blaster. Try to contain it early, and if it's too big, don't be worried to call the fire stations. Medical Evacuation (MedEvac) When you get dispatched about a MedEvac, get your butt over there, chances are the guy/girl is pretty hurt. On the way, pick up a medic, it'll be a whole lot easier for you once you get to the scene. Try and get as close as possible to the victim(s). When all the victims are in the copter (or your copter is full, whatever comes first) head immediately for the nearest hospital roof. After you drop the victims off, return for any others. Boat/Rooftop/Train Rescue (Life Rescue) As you can see, there are several variations of this mission, in the boat rescue you rescue Sims from an overturned boat, in the rooftop one you rescue Sims from a rooftop, and the train rescue is where you rescue Sims from runaway trains. It's good to have a harness for this, especially for boat and train rescues. Get the harness as close as you can to the Sims, they'll grab it themselves when it's close enough. When the Sim is on, pull him up into your copter, and repeat for any other Sims. When all done, drop the Sims off anywhere safe in the city. Riot These occur due to high heat and crime in SimCity 2000, but in SimCopter they're random. Head to the site of the disturbance. In order to get full points, you need to use the following order when calming the Sims down: Megaphone --> Water --> Tear Gas. Calmly aim your light at the crowd and tell them to disperse. Most should start leaving, on the ones that remain, spray some water on them (making sure to get some of the fire too). On the few that remain, launch a tear gas canister at them. It would wise to dispatch cops, fire trucks, and ambulances to the area also. Get ready to clean up any fires and MedEvacs that result. Speeder The purple car in this picture with the exaust coming out is the speeder. This type of mission is unique, as there is no dispatch to it. Every city has at least 1 speeder at all times. If you happen to see one, press F5 to dispatch a police car to follow your spotlight. Aim the spotlight at the car and press F7 to initiate a "Stop Criminal" megaphone message. If that doesn't work, keep following him and hope the police catch up. This also works for criminals in cars. Traffic Jam Traffic Jams are easy to clear up. Just send some "Report Traffic" messages on your megaphone to the area in question, and you're done. Repeat until all cars are cleared, sometimes it takes a while. Dispatching police to the area also helps a little. Criminal Criminals can range from muggers to arsonists, each performing their duties in an area of the city. Sometimes they're on foot, sometimes they're in a car. When dispatched, pick up a cop from the nearest police roof and head to the area. Scan the area for the criminals, they usually wear dark clothing and run around a lot (like idiots). When you find him, send him a "Stop Criminal" message. If he refuses to stop. Touch down and let the police officer out, then find the criminal with your spotlight and continue to megaphone him. Soon the officer will say "Suspect Spotted - In Pursuit". Now you can leave, but wouldn't it be nice to earn some more points by keeping your light on the criminal? This will help the officer catch him. Transport Sometimes rich Sims just get sick and tired of traffic or their Rolls-Royce, and will like you to take them above it all. When dispatched head to the area of dispatch and land. The VIP's will get in. When they are all strapped in, press N on the keyboard, your map will change. Keep pressing until "Transport ##" appears in the Map Bar. Follow the white line, this is the place where the Sims want to go. When you get there, land, the Sims will get out automatically, and you will get paid. Transport people are also the most impatient. Well, this isn't exactly a mission, but it is if you have the Apache (see the Copter page to find out what I mean). I've taken a rare shot of the UFO, I haven't been able to find a UFO shot on the Net yet (if anyone knows one e-mail me). He're it is: Now I'll have government agents knocking at my door :-) © 1998 The Unofficial Sim-Games Page
